A rather nasty bug existed prior to version 3.4 that corrupted some log data.
If you observe the following symptoms, follow the prescription (below) to
"disinfect" your data.
Symptom: You notice discontinuities in record numbers ie 1,2,3,11,12,13...
You may not be able to cursor below a discontinuity (this symtom
will be more likely to occur with version 3.4 --- this is NOT a
version 3.4 problem but a data anomoly created in a previous
version). The cause of this was a bug in the Journal Move
routine that did not properly delete the moved records. Follow
the prescription below to restore the data.
Prescription: Select the affected database. Hit the HOME key. Hit "M" to
mark the line. Hit the END key. Hit "M" to mark the all entries.
Select the Journal ("J"). Hit "C" for create and make a new
database. Hit "W" for write and select the database you just
created. This will copy the afflicted database to the new one
and fix up the pointers. Select the new database and verify its
ok. Then return to the Journal and delete the old database.
Updates: Watch out copying new versions into the same subdirectory as
your current log. When unpacking files, any *.DAT files will
replace your log data -- probably not what you want.
Version 3.0 only: Be sure to delete your old config.dat file. This version
changed this data to store the radio type.
NRD535 users: Be sure to turn off RTTY output mode if you do not have the RTTY
option. This mode causes the radio interface to hang. Thanks to Tom Sundstrom
for pointing this out. I have included a file,"RTTYOFF.EXE" which will disable
this mode for you. Simply run RTTYOFF prior to using NRD the first time and
this will no longer be a problem.
